Home Uncategorized Greenkeeping Update 15/8/2019

Although we’ve had quite a bit of rain recently, the course is holding up well and other than making playing a little tougher, no restrictions have been required on the course.

Keeping on top of growth is proving quite a challenge, although up to now we are on top of things. Long rough is growing again though so we may begin the annual cut a little earlier this year.

This involves cutting and collecting most of the long grass across the course, with only selected areas left to allow many of the wildlife species to still have somewhere to hide during the winter months.

The damaged bunker on Jaws has been rebuilt. Having also been washed away last year, we decided to start again from scratch and repair the bunker permanently. This will be GUR now for a couple of weeks to allow the new turf to root.

This weekends Club Championship will hopefully survive the weather, however there are a couple of things to be aware of.

Holes will not be moved to new positions on the Sunday meaning both days will be played to the same positions. This is down to a lack of staff for this coming weekend due to holidays.

As a team we don’t take any time off in July due to Captains Day and Club Championship. This allows us to give everything to get the course right during July, however as August is genrally quieter, we do all take some time off then. We apologise for this and hope that it doesn’t detract too much from your enjoyment of the competition.

Finally, if anyone has any feedback regarding the course, or any suggestions that they’d like to make, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]
